Willie M. Obiano Must Go " The Horizon Group

A youth association in Anambra state, the Horizon Group, on Wednesday said its desire to change the government in the state was because Governor Willie Obiano had under performed.

The convener of the group, Mr Arinze Igboeli, in a press conference in Awka, Anambra state said it would be disastrous for electorate in the state to return Obiano for a second tenure when he had failed to deliver dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Igboeli said: “When the Obiano administration came into power, it harped on the message of continuity.

He said he would “complete projects left behind by the Obi administration; develop all sectors of Anambra simultaneously; improve on the quality of life in Anambra through good governance; continue on the state of low indebtedness, run government with great sense or degree of inclusiveness and run a prudent and lean government”.

“Sadly, Anambra people have long discovered that what our governor said about continuity is indeed different from what the word ordinarily means.

“The administration began with a poor start through the mismanagement of our state’s resources. Daily, we were inundated with high level of profligacy exhibited by the administration.

“At first we thought these were merely tell-tale meant to discredit his administration.

However, we were forced to begin to see such tales as truth when the government made a volte face on the amount of money left for it by the Peter Obi administration.

“After three years in office, the Obiano administration cannot show any project of note it had completed. We have therefore come to the decision that Governor Obiano, following his dismal failure as governor, should not seek, accept or run again for the office of governor as another term for him will surely cast the state further deep down the doldrums.”

The group accused the governor of distributing the wealth of the state to his cronies, alleging that appointments and contracts under Obiano were not made on merit.

Reacting, the Senior Special Assistant to the governor on media, Mr James Eze said the youth group was paid by detractors to undermine the giant strides of Obiano in the state.

A call on Chief Felix Idiga (JAFAC), a man who has gone far ahead of his time to take up leadership positions

For the last couple of years, The Mo Ibrahim Foundation which annually confers the most outstanding leader award to African leaders who have distinguished themselves in the art of leadership, has refused to confer the award on any of the present African leaders reason as cited by the foundation is that none of them is worthy. But, does this translate that they're dearths of leaders in African? Read on. It's true that leadership in Africa is currently being led by those whom political profiteering has become an unquenchable vision- Men whose drive is their personal enrichment; the prosperity of the nation becomes a lesser issue to that of themselves. It's also true, that Africa has obscured their best men from assuming leadership positions. Men who have created wealth and jobs for their communities without being in an elective leadership position. Men whose fecundity is unquestionable and whose loyalty lies always with the people. Men to whom leadership is natural ha...

ANAMBRA PDP PRIMARY: Dr. Patrick Ifeanyi Ubah heads to court.

Barely three weeks after the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) conducted its governorship primary in Anambra State, one of the aspirants, Dr. Ifeanyi Ubah, yesterday questioned the credibility of the primary and vowed to achieve justice in the court of law. Addressing newsmen in Abuja, Ubah accused the leaders of the party of using fake delegates’ list to conduct the primary, adding that the certified copy of the list he got from Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) was different from what was used at the primary. Kicking against the primary, the Chairman of Capital oil described it as a show of shame, adding that Oseloka Obaze, who was declared winner, was never given a waiver by the party National Executive Committee (NEC). Ubah, who said that he has exhausted all internal mechanism of the party, added that “I think it is the court that can address the situation now. We are going to court and if ...
