"APGA" Is Not Just A Political Party, It's A Pan-igbo Legacy And A Movement ~ by Agba Esther Makuochukwu

The APGA slogan 'nke a bụ nke anyị' is not just a saying, but a consolation in the fact that we, Ndigbo have that which we'd all fall back to at the end of the day - home.

APGA is not just a political party, it's a pan-Igbo legacy and a movement which should be supported by any well-meaning Igbo son or daughter. APGA is the Igbo narrative in the larger Nigerian political space.

During the era of Obasanjo's presidency, Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) was controlling Lagos.

Tinubu was the governor and the idea wasn't to join the PDP because she controlled more states, but to be identifiable to what was theirs.
Have  you ever wondered how
Lagos state at that time, weathered the storm of months without federal allocation when the internally generated revenue was yet to assume a high level. That didn't bother him a bit.

How did he wrestle back the same zone from the stronghold of the same PDP in 2007 and went on to strengthen his hold on the  politically sophisticated zone by 2011? And to summarize all the  battles won, how did the ACN merge with other progressive parties in the mold of CPC and ANPP, both from the Northern fold, now giving the PDP sleepless nights?

These and many more questions has remained a sort of magic to political writers and social observers.

Just like  Willie Obiano of APGA is in the eye of the storm today, a lot of lessons is to be learnt from Tinubu of yesteryears.

So, When they tell you to connect to the national power grid, tell them the story of Bola Tinubu. Lagos did it with Tinubu, Anambra can do it with Willie Obiano.

Umunne m, a vote for APGA in the forthcoming election is a vote that wouldn't go to waste. It remains a vote that would keep APGA from extinction, a vote of confidence on the igbo nation when we've clearly been looked over and neglected.

A vote for  APGA will be a vote for our own bargaining chip among political parties and states in Nigeria.

The igbo brotherhood  is nonnegotiable  and every well meaning igbo patriot  has begun to come home to this truth.

THE HANDSHAKE ACROSS THE NIGER A MOVEMENT LONG OVERDUE

Before the Nigeria independence, the Yorubas has been the greatest host of the Igbo tribes including their business empires and white collar hobs. Since I was born, I have never heard of any communal clash between this two great ethnic groups as their relationship keeps on soaring to greater height. Many of us with short historical knowledge, never knew that the independence we enjoy together as a nation was struggled and attained on a platter of The handshake across the Niger. How do I mean? The N.C.N.C that struggled and attained Nigeria's independence in 1960 was founded in 1944 by Late Dr Nnamdi Azikiwe, Herbert Olayinka Badmus Macaulay, Akintola and Michael Okpara and Nwafor Orizu of blessed memories , It was a combination of both ethnic effort of Yorubas, Midwest of Chief Okotie Eboh, Micheal Okpara and Nnamdi Azikiwe that made our independence possible. As at 1957, Nigeria was due for independence and the West and East were fully prepared but what delayed the independence ...

A call on Chief Felix Idiga (JAFAC), a man who has gone far ahead of his time to take up leadership positions

For the last couple of years, The Mo Ibrahim Foundation which annually confers the most outstanding leader award to African leaders who have distinguished themselves in the art of leadership, has refused to confer the award on any of the present African leaders reason as cited by the foundation is that none of them is worthy. But, does this translate that they're dearths of leaders in African? Read on. It's true that leadership in Africa is currently being led by those whom political profiteering has become an unquenchable vision- Men whose drive is their personal enrichment; the prosperity of the nation becomes a lesser issue to that of themselves. It's also true, that Africa has obscured their best men from assuming leadership positions. Men who have created wealth and jobs for their communities without being in an elective leadership position. Men whose fecundity is unquestionable and whose loyalty lies always with the people. Men to whom leadership is natural ha...
